My Mini January Primark Haul!

Hello Lovelies,

I hope you are all well and enjoying the start of 2017! How many times have you written 2016?

I’m sure a lot of you will be in the same boat as I am where you are trying to be more sensible with money in January – for me it is a long gap between pay days after being paid early in December.

However, I love shopping and I will not let January stop me so I have made a couple of trips into Primark this month and I just wanted to share with you the bargains that I have managed to pick up!

As I said before I am plate sized (I’m trying to make this a real thing) where my clothing size sits somewhere between plus sized and straight sized (16-20UK).

The first thing I picked up was a pair of flat, loafer pumps with a pony hair panel and tassel detailing. The main reason I bought these was because I wanted some nice shoes that I could wear on nights out but that would not kill my feet. Both my office Christmas do and our New Year shenanigans both almost crippled me and I decided that I didn’t want to do it any more. These are part of Primark’s extra comfy shoe range and only cost £8. I figured that these would also be practical for work as well.

If there’s two things in this world I love it’s glitter and converse and these shoes have both these things. They are gold glitter with rainbow sparkle and in a hi top converse style. I don’t think you can go wrong with converse type shoes, I think you can dress them up or down and they are always comfortable. And if there is a 3rd thing I love in this world it’s a bargain and these glittery wonders were only £10.

The next thing I picked up is a mini tube skirt that has these really cute geometric hearts all over it. It is sort of a ribber material and the hearts cover the entire skirt. It’s super stretchy so I think it’s going to be really comfortable to wear. Again I think it is a piece that can easily be dressed up for work with smart shoes and a shirt or dressed down for the weekend with a cute T-Shirt and converse. This was originally £4 which is a complete steal but it was reduced when I found it to £2!

img_2082img_2087The next item in my mini haul is this lovely shirt dress with short sleeves. I’ve been after a shirt dress for a while but as I am quite short (I’m 5’4″) I’ve found it quite difficult to find one that doesn’t just look like I am wearing an oversized man’s shirt. I really love this one because it is a mini length (just above my knees with slight splits up the sides) and it also has short sleeves. It has these adorable hearts all over it which would make this perfect for a Valentine’s Day date and a waist tie to cinch you in at the middle. This was also only £10.

This amazing biker jacket was just inside the door and immediately I knew it was the perfect item for me. I have a bit of a soft spot for a biker jacket and my current black one I adore but it squeaks so badly – it’s a bit embarrassing on public transport! Even my husband said it was “just so you!” so I hunted it down in my size and I just had to get it. It’s a really soft faux leather with these beautiful embroidered cherry blossoms. This was £25 and the most expensive item I bought but still a really good price for a biker jacket!

img_2094

img_2095I love shirts. When I was a teenager, I remember watching Buffy and she wore a shirt over a white vest and I think this was the moment my love for shirts began. I find them very flattering on my body shape and I really enjoy wearing them under pinafore dresses (which are another obsession of mine). As with most things I’ve mentioned here, this shirt can be easily dressed up or down. This shirt is a creamy colour with a really cute Swallow print all over it. The Swallows are black and white with some blue detailing on them. It’s a really soft shirt and it cost a whopping £7!

img_2096

img_2097The final item I picked up is probably the biggest bargain of them all and possibly the coolest item I picked up. It is a khaki green Jurassic Park T shirt. I love Jurassic Park (and World) and I have a real soft spot for film related T shirts. I saw this T shirt on a sale rail and didn’t think they would have it in my size but I managed to find a size 18 and it was only £1 down from £8!

I hope you all enjoyed this blog and has inspired you to find your own Primark bargains!

Big Thanks to My Dearest Husband for helping me take some of the photos for this blog and fighting with some troublesome fairy lights!

My Christmas Jumpers 2016!

Hello Lovelies,

I hope you are all keeping well.

As Christmas grows nearer I thought it was time to start talking about Christmas jumpers. I love Christmas jumpers – some might say, in fact, I have a Christmas jumper addiction. I am also a bit of a strange size in terms of clothing – I am somewhere between a UK Size 16 and 20 which means I am not necessarily straight size or plus size (plate size I guess!) so I wanted to show you some of the options for Christmas jumpers that are out there this year!

img_1976

So the first jumper I’m going to talk about, I actually got in the summer. I was watching YouTube and someone’s Vlogmas videos started playing and it got me to thinking about Christmas and jumpers so I went on to ASOS to see if they had anything in already and they had this one:

img_1977img_1992Unfortunately, this jumper is no longer available on ASOS but I really like how simple it is. It’s really soft and quite thick with a basic “Noël” written in gold. It was a bargain at only £9 so my tip is definitely to look for Christmas jumpers in the summer because there are deals to be had!

img_1989img_1979

This next jumper is a Primark special. I love this because it has sausage dogs on it. As my husband will tell you I am obsessed with sausage dogs and I keep asking him when we can get one (we don’t even have our own place yet but that’s not the point!) so when my friend pointed this out to me in Primark I knew I had to get it. It’s lovely and soft and cosy and only cost £12.

img_2001img_2002This is another Primark one. This is a plain black jumper with sort of waffle style sleeves and with a sequin panel in the centre. When you brush the sequins one way they say Let It Snow and the other way they show a picture of snowflakes. If I am honest, I can’t get my sequins to lay properly on the snowflake side but for £12 I am not going to complain. I feel like this is another one that is not quite as in your face as some of the others, especially if you have the sequins showing the snowflakes.

img_1980img_1988Sticking with the Primark theme is a slightly more garish number featuring some very cute polar bears. This reminds me more of the tacky 80s skiing jumpers (Eddie the Eagle style) compared to the other jumpers I’ve featured so far. I really like this one, it’s super soft and cosy and has lovely Fairisle detailing on the cuffs and bottom hem. This one was slightly more expensive at £14.

img_1982img_1984This final one is the epitome of a tacky Christmas jumper apart from the fact it is actually a sweatshirt. This one is from George at ASDA and cost £14. It has a Christmas tree design with the words A Very Merry Christmas making up the tree. The piece de resistance is that this one lights up. And the lights flash. Obviously, I love the design of this one, but I also appreciate the fact that it is a sweatshirt because sometimes jumpers can make me a bit itchy.

I hope you enjoyed my selection of Festive Jumpers for 2016. Are you going to be rocking a tacky jumper on Christmas day or something more chic?

Weekly Round Up – 17th January 2016

Hello Lovelies!

This is not my usual kind of blog post – actually talking about something specific – But I set myself the goal of posting something every Sunday at midday so this week will be no different.

I will explain why I haven’t properly prepared content this week and it is because on of my best friends has been staying with me! We live a fair few miles apart and due to personal circumstances we don’t get to see each other as much as we would like to but this time last week he came up to stay. We haven’t got up to much so there wasn’t a bloggable opportunity there but we have watched quite a lot of films. I have now seen 3 of the 4 Scream movies which, for some reason, I hadn’t seen before!

I have also successfully cooked a yummy roast dinner and a very yummy batch of cookies – I will be the perfect housewife in no time.

In other news I am hoping to go and start looking at wedding dresses on Tuesday as the big day is slowly looming closer and closer! I am excited to have a look and see what our local bridal shop offers but I am also nervous as I am a plus size girl and I don’t want to be looked down on.

We had some snow this morning, when I woke up at half 7 there was a light dusting and then when I woke up again at 9.20 (It’s Sunday – it’s allowed!) it was gently snowing. It seems to have stopped now but I do wonder if we will get much more of the white stuff before the winter is out?

I think that is it for my round up, I apologise that this blog hasn’t been a “proper” one. Hopefully I will have a good one to do next week.

Stay Safe and Wonderful!

The Dressing For Cats

Hello Lovelies!

Some of you may have guessed from the title of this post (and my tweet) that this blog post is going to be about what I wore when I went to see Cats: The Musical with my best friend, Glenn

I didn’t take any photos on the day because we were rushing about in London and I know that theatres  tend to be a bit suspicious of those with photography equipment.

Anyway, when I found out that I was going to be meeting Mr Mistofelees and rubbing shoulders with the Rum Tum Tugger I knew I couldn’t just wear any old outfit.

Although, I did opt for jeans and my very comfortable Evans knee high boots (I knew we were going to be walking around London and the weather wasn’t going to be beautiful) I tried to find an appropriate theme for the rest of my outfit… And what better than CATS?!

So I wore this grey cat face jumper from Tu at Sainsburys (£18). I love this jumper  because not only does it have a cat face on it but it is super, super soft and warm.

So I had on my grey cat jumper but that wasn’t enough. I knew I had to accessorise! So the next thing I opted for was this Black Cat necklace from Sugar and Vice. This exact design was an exclusive with their All Things Nice Subscription box in October as part of The Witching Hour Collection.  However, they do have another Black Cat Necklace (£13) which is perhaps more appropriate because it has he same golden eyes as the Cats logo!

To top my outfit off (quite literally!) I opted for the Rachel Floral Kitty Ears (£25) from Crown and Glory.
I’ve worn these a few times and I always get lots of lovely comments about them but this time I got more than usual, I assume because of the appropriateness of them!!

So that is what I wore to the theatre!

I am thinking of going a YouTube video soon, probably the TMI tag where you can get to know me a little bit better!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this and I will catch you all soon!

Stay Safe and Wonderful,

Lexy
